The EID Hospital is located on the campus of Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH), in Orlu LGA. The facility is intended to serve the South-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria with a capacity of 150 beds.
The initiative is part of a broader corporate and government effort (NNPC in partnership with private IOCs inclusive of SEPLAT) who pledged to construct multiple infectious-disease centers across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones to bolster pandemic and infectious-disease response.
The hospital boasts amenities such as:
Male and female wards
4 consulting rooms
Conference room
Admin offices
Pharmacy
An operating theatre
Laboratory
X-ray room
Ultrasound room
A 750 KVA transformer
Generators (350 KVA and 150 KVA)
Laundry room
Panel room
Water treatment plant (WTP)
Gate house, amongst others
When completed the hospital would serve as a major boost to the health-care capacity in Imo State, particularly for infectious diseases and emergencies, offering more resilience in the face of pandemics or outbreaks.
